If It’s Tough for Her, Imagine How Gays Feel

The article titled “A Life That Every Parent--and Pet Owner--Can Relate To” (Oct. 15) by Connie Koenenn told of the hurtful letters Lynn Johnston received from some readers when she had a character in her comic strip come out that he was gay.

Johnston said, “I’m just not ready to take on that angry force again,” and has not mentioned homosexuality again.

If this mature successful mother finds it too painful to receive such mail, how much more our gay daughters, sons and friends suffer on a daily basis at school, in church and even at home.
