An 18-year-old man was fatally shot in front of his relatives in a drive-by attack described by investigators as gang-related.

Jose Fierro, of Santa Ana, was sitting on his front porch talking with his older sister and a few other friends and relatives when a red Toyota Celica drove up, Police Sgt. Bob Clark said.

Two men in the car said something and Fierro walked to the vehicle, police said. As he neared the passenger door, one of the men fired about four rounds from a handgun, striking Fierro in the head. He was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he died about an hour later, Clark said.
