Busy Thompkins Glad to Be Sore
Glenn Thompkins was tired and started cramping up on the plane ride home. It was a great feeling, he said.
Thompkins subbed for injured Shaun Williams at free safety Saturday at California and played 96 downs, including punt and kickoff returns. He had six tackles, caused a fumble and tipped a pass that teammate Andy Colbert intercepted.
“I was so nervous the day before the game and just before the game,” he said Wednesday. “That went away the first play. They threw a pass, and it wasn’t even to my man, but the nervousness went away.”
With Williams out, Thompkins, a junior, will start again this week against Stanford.
