Public Opinion--The public is invited to comment on and ask questions about the cleanup plan for an area of the Tustin Marine Corps Helicopter Air Station at a meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Tustin City Hall, Clifton Miller Room, 300 Centennial Way. The U.S. Marine Corps/Navy has completed an investigation and evaluation of various cleanup alternatives for chemicals on the site. The Marine Corps/Navy’s preferred method includes land-use restrictions to prohibit the excavation of landfilled materials and use of the shallow groundwater, continued containment of groundwater affected by chemicals and monitoring to track chemical movement. Garden Path--Fullerton Beautiful, an organization dedicated to environmental concerns, conservation and projects to beautify Fullerton, will have its annual meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Community Mural Room, Fullerton Police Department, 237 W. Commonwealth Ave. On the agenda: Three teachers will share their experiences with school gardens. The public is invited.

Animal Handlers--A workshop that provides exposure to and contact with small mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds is offered Saturday at the Santa Ana Zoo. The animals include both those local to this area and those found in other countries. The session meets from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and is geared to adults and children over 3. Cost is $15 for a child and parent, $7.50 for each additional person. Reservations are required: (714) 836-4000. The zoo is in Prentice Park, 1801 E. Chestnut Ave., Santa Ana.
