Security Forces on Alert After Warning

Israeli security forces went on alert after government warnings that Islamic militants were planning an attack to disrupt the delicate peace process. Police put up roadblocks and conducted vehicle checks throughout Israel. Heavily armed security forces patrolled shopping areas. The U.S. State Department issued a 10-day travel advisory urging Americans to “stay away from bus stops and look out for unattended packages.” Shopping malls and buses have been targets of suicide bombers.
