Offensive Totals Keep Plunging in Loss

That mighty 124 yards of offense USC generated against Washington on Saturday dropped the Trojans into eighth place in the Pacific 10 Conference total-offense rankings with an average of 355 yards per game.

Cal leads with 491 yards. Stanford, USC's foe Saturday, is in a virtual tie with Oregon State for last, 300 yards per game.

Fresno State Athletic Director Al Bohl said Sunday that he hasn't interviewed anyone to succeed retiring Jim Sweeney as coach, and wouldn't confirm if USC assistant Mike Riley is on his list of candidates.

"We're still putting together a search committee. . . . We haven't talked to anyone about the job yet," he said.

Riley was identified as a candidate by the Fresno Bee, which also reported that Ohio State quarterbacks coach Walt Harris is the leading candidate.
