New Chairman Elected to Advanced Photonix Board

Hayden Leason has been elected chairman of the board of directors of Advanced Photonix in Camarillo.

James W. Ward, who is stepping down as chairman, will remain a member of the board of directors. Leason, who has been a director of the company since July 1995, founded Filtertek Inc., a designer and manufacturer of specialty filtration elements.

He served as chairman and chief executive officer of Filtertek until 1992, when he sold his interest to Schawk Inc. Since then, Leason has managed private investments.

The company also announced that Robert G. Allison was elected to the board to fill one of three vacancies. He also will serve as the interim president and CEO, effective immediately.

Allison is currently a director and CEO of Vis-a-Vis Communications Inc. and managing partner of Allison Venture Partners Inc., a private capital and consulting firm serving the technology market.

Advanced Photonix designs and manufactures silicon photodetectors and other products.
