International Remote to Eliminate 30 Jobs

Share

International Remote Imaging Systems Inc., a Chatsworth manufacturer of urinalysis workstations, said it expects to report a third-quarter operating loss, and plans to reduce its work force by 20%.

The company said its payroll increased earlier this year to 150 workers as a result of two acquisitions, and now it must cut 30 jobs to return to profitability.

The restructuring is expected to save International Remote more than $1 million annually after a one-time charge to earnings of about $900,000 in the fourth quarter.

The expected third-quarter loss is due largely to increased expenses, the company said. Price discounts on a new product were also a factor, it said.
