Latino March

Share

* As a participant in the Latino march on Oct. 12, I am compelled to clarify a point made by William Borges (letter, Oct. 24). If there is a need to apologize, it should come from one who took part and not from one who may have read about or seen TV clips of the march.

Let me state firsthand that I was there and talked with many of the marchers. They told of being proud of their cultures and at the same time emphasized that they were Americans.

Make no mistake, I am proud of my Mexican heritage as well as being able to perform my civic duties as an American. I (and my fellow marchers) have no need to apologize for our actions. We stand tall and proud for our actions.
