Armenian Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan announced Monday that he was resigning for personal reasons after more than three years in office.

“This is my decision,” he said. “I shall be living in Yerevan and writing a book.”

Bagratyan, 38, is credited with putting Armenia’s economy on the road to recovery despite a partial blockade of trade routes because of the nation’s conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.

Sources said his successor probably would be Armenia’s ambassador in London, Armen Sarkisyan.
