Time and Newsweek produced special election magazines Wednesday, less than 24 hours after polls closed.

The third major national newsmagazine, U.S. News & World Report, was waiting until Monday, its usual release day, to distribute its election edition.

“If you’re a newsmagazine, the elections are our Olympics,” said Time spokesman Robert Pondiscio.

Time was on the streets 48 hours after the last three presidential elections but bumped it up to 24 hours “because we can,” he said.

Time chartered planes to rush the magazines to New York, Washington, New Orleans, Little Rock, Ark., Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland, Ore., and Seattle. Newsweek had airport distribution in Washington, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles on Wednesday.
