Look for Change Next Season

Share

The Kings will be wearing new uniforms and new colors next season, and recently petitioned the NHL with that intention. It is league policy for teams to make such notification the season before making the change.

A logo and colors have not been determined. But team executives have surveyed fans and are looking at different logos. It would not be totally unexpected for the new look to have some elements of silver and black and purple.

The Kings’ first uniform was a somewhat garish gold and purple with a crown in the middle. That changed after the acquisition of Wayne Gretzky and was considered a huge marketing success. But current club executives are concerned that kids can’t wear King garb to school because of the black, white and silver colors.

Rookie Roman Vopat, called up from Phoenix in the International Hockey League earlier this week but only watched Thursday against Montreal, played Friday when Ian Laperriere was inactivated to rest a shoulder injury. Vopat will return to Phoenix this weekend.
