Visual Effects Company Opens Burbank Office

Rainmaker Digital Pictures Corp., a Vancouver company that provides digital post-production services to the entertainment industry, has opened a new office in Burbank in an effort to increase its business in the booming Hollywood market.

Peter Sternlicht, president of the new Burbank division, said he plans to hire about 14 workers initially to provide visual effects for motion pictures and high-end television commercials.

Next spring, he said, the division hopes to move to permanent quarters, possibly in Burbank or North Hollywood. The staff would then be expanded to about 25 to 30, who will also work on film-to-tape transfers and Rainmaker’s compressed digital technology.
