Fuel Blast Hurts Hundreds Near Mexico City

SAN JUAN IXHUATEPEC, Mexico —
A gasoline storage tank exploded Monday, igniting a second tank and sending a tower of smoke thousands of feet above the Mexico City area. At least 11 people were hospitalized and hundreds were slightly injured.
The blast occurred in the same complex as an explosion 12 years ago that killed at least 503 people in this suburb north of Mexico City.
Footage from television news helicopters showed fierce orange flames and thick black smoke pouring from a tank at the installation of Pemex, the government oil monopoly.
