CBS Says It Won’t Sell Studio City TV Lot: The network said that although it is “always interested in creative business opportunities,” there “is no scenario under which we would sell or give up control” of the CBS Studio Center. DreamWorks SKG has been checking out the site as a possible new home in the wake of a dispute with developer Robert Maguire over the building of the planned DreamWorks studio near Marina del Rey. Gilbert Cates to Produce Oscars: Gilbert Cates will return to produce his seventh Oscar telecast, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Thursday. Cates holds the record for the most consecutive stints as Oscar producer, having run the awards from 1990 through 1995. Cates is also a producer of TV and theatrical movies, is artistic director of UCLA’s Geffen Playhouse, and is dean of UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television (a post he will resign next year). The 69th annual Academy Awards will be held March 24 at the Shine Auditorium and will be broadcast live that night on ABC.
