Major Challenges Ahead for Moorpark

Share

A new chapter begins for Moorpark. If this new council is committed to the job of protecting and enhancing our community, it must first recognize quality of life as more than just another buzzword. The time for talk is over.

First on the plate has to be growth, which in turn affects every aspect of our lives. Consider first that we have yet to feel the full brunt of all the development over the last decade. The daily inconveniences we now experience will only become worse.

Moorpark has more than 6,000 residential units either approved or in process. We have a General Plan which proposes to double our current population by 2010. In addition, there are many property holders outside the city limits who will eventually be seeking to develop.

In reaching a population of 50,000, we would be destined to a 100,000-plus city. You might as well forget about anything resembling a rural lifestyle.

What lies ahead for this new council is certainly no cakewalk. All I can say is pass the Tums.
