Support of Robinson Sought

Trojan quarterback Brad Otton would like to see some university support of Coach John Robinson. Athletic Director Mike Garrett and USC President Steven B. Sample have indicated they won’t comment on Robinson’s coaching status until after the season.

“I’d definitely like to see someone step forward and support Coach Robinson,” Otton said Tuesday.

“It’s a horrible situation he’s in. It’s wrong [to remain silent]. . . . They should be giving him all the confidence they can.”

Senior tight end John Allred put his sprained knee and ankle to their first tests and said he thought he’d passed.

“I’ll definitely be able to play Saturday [against UCLA], but how much or whether I’ll start--that’s up to the coaches,” he said.
