American Brands named Robert Dubiel president and chief executive of its Carlsbad-based Cobra Golf unit and made other management changes at the golf club maker. The company said two executives resigned: Mark McClure, who had been chief executive since April 1990, and Chief Operating Officer Dave Schaefer. McClure left to pursue other interests, said Greenwich, Conn.-based American Brands. Dubiel had been president and chief operating officer of Cobra Golf’s sister companies, Titleist and Foot-Joy Worldwide, since January. The two companies make golf balls and golf shoes, respectively. Cobra Golf also said Vice Chairman Thomas L. Crow, who co-founded the company in 1973 and was its chief club designer, will resume a more active role.
