City Hopes to Raise Funds for Library

Share

City Council members said this week that they hope to launch a fund-raising campaign to keep the Mary Wilson branch library open five days a week.

After learning that as much as $88,000 in cutbacks proposed by the Orange County Public Library will force the branch to open only four days a week instead of five, council members said they hope to help raise funds in the community to keep the branch operating.

“There needs to be a community effort. The city can’t step in and be responsible for the Orange County library system. We can be partners with the community,” Mayor Gwen Forsthye said.
