ARV Assisted Living Appoints Executive

* Michael W. Somogyi has joined ARV Assisted Living Inc. in Costa Mesa as vice president of apartment operations. He was previously president of the Residential Property Management division of Sares Regis Group and was responsible for managing more than 11,000 apartment units throughout Southern California, Colorado and Nevada.

* Patrick Surridge has been named account supervisor for the Schraff Group, a Costa Mesa marketing communications firm. Surridge, who joined the company three years ago, had been account manager. Before that, he was director of client services at Ripley-Woodbury Marketing Communications.

* Roger W. Johnson has been appointed to the board of directors of Elexsys International Inc. in San Jose. Johnson was appointed as administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration in 1993 and resigned earlier this year. Prior to that, he was chairman and chief executive of Western Digital Corp. in Irvine.

* Michael Dendo has joined I/OMagic Corp., an Irvine computer products developer, as vice president of sales and marketing. He was formerly vice president of sales and marketing at Behavior Tech Computer Inc. and Wearnes Technology Corp.

* Rick McCoy has been appointed project manager for Snyder Langston, an Irvine real estate and construction services company. In his new position, he is managing the construction of the first two buildings for the Irvine Co.’s University Research Park development near UC Irvine. McCoy previously worked with Kajima Construction Services Inc., Koll Construction Co. and E.W. Hahn Construction Co.

* G. Allan Daum has joined the Irvine office of Voit Commercial Brokerage and will handle office building leasing and real estate corporate and advisory services. He was formerly president of Daum Realty Advisors. Daum was also vice president and general manager for Tishman West/Balcor.

* Barbara Sloate has been elected 1996-97 planner/director for the Southern California chapter of Meeting Professionals International. She will be responsible for the community service team fund-raising projects of the organization. Sloate is president of Whirl-A-Round, a meeting planning company in Irvine.

* James P. Meehan has been named president of the Orange Coast chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Management. He is president of JPM International, a human resources and executive search firm, and chief executive of Performance Strategies Inc. in Mission Viejo.

* Tim Keenan has been appointed to the advisory board for the School of Film & Television at Chapman University in Orange. Keenan is an audio engineer and sound designer and has owned Creative Media, a media recording studio in Cypress, for more than 18 years.

* Geniene B. Stillwell and Timothy J. Kay have been named partners in the Orange County office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. Stillwell, a labor and employment lawyer, focuses her practice on wrongful termination, breach of contract, discrimination and sexual harassment. Kay, a tax lawyer, specializes in estate planning, probate and trust administration.
