When Earthlings Buy, They Are Equal

Share

I was extremely offended by Kathy Price-Robinson’s story (“Mars & Venus Buy a House,” Nov. 10). Women “prattle on and on” while men are “logical.” I thought we had dispensed with this ridiculous stereotyping 20 years ago.

Apparently women are supposed to just shut up and let the men be logical and intelligent. And if the women just can’t shut up, the logical, intelligent men are supposed to tolerate the incessant prattling.

I am a single woman who has purchased two homes. I have a 6.75% fixed-rate 30-year mortgage (yes, I said fixed rate). I am sure Price-Robinson would attribute this to my woman’s intuition kicking in the day I locked in the rate, but it is actually due to my intelligence and logical thinking.

Could you please get a grip and stop this sexist drivel? This is the ‘90s. A little enlightenment, please.

The fact that there are differences between the sexes is undeniable, but I fail to understand all Kathy Price-Robinson’s talk about women being from Venus and men being from Mars.

Nowhere in her article was it mentioned that home buyers should be pre-approved for a loan before they ever start looking for a house. Then both the husband and the wife know what price range they can comfortably afford, and they don’t waste countless hours looking at homes beyond their means.
