Auditions Planned for ‘Lion in Winter’

Auditions for the Santa Paula Theater Center production of “The Lion in Winter” will be held tonight and Wednesday at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center.

Roles include: Alais Capet, a beautiful French princess in her early 20s; Richard Lionheart, eldest son of Henry Plantagenet, 26 to 30 years old, tall and handsome, powerful yet graceful; the count of Brittany, Henry’s middle son, 24 to 28 years old, handsome and quick of speech and movement; Henry’s youngest son, John, 18 to 20, short and pudgy; Philip Capet, king of France, mid-20s, tall, gorgeous and well-proportioned; and Henry’s sixtysomething wife, Eleanor.

Auditions will be held by appointment both days from 7 to 10 p.m. The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center is at 3050 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley.

“The Lion in Winter,” directed by Gerald Castillo, will play Feb. 21 to April 6 at the Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 S. 7th St., Santa Paula, and April 18 to May 11 at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center.
