Grants to Fund Multimedia Major at Cal Lutheran

Share

Cal Lutheran University has received two grants to extend the resources of the school’s computer network and develop a multimedia communications major.

A $50,000 grant from the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation will be used to provide video-conferencing capabilities to nontraditional students, especially those taking courses at CLU’s regional center in Woodland Hills.

Most of the students enrolled at the center are educators and business professionals who are seeking advanced degrees through the School of Education or the MBA program.

With the technological enhancements made possible by the grant, students will learn how to integrate the latest technology into their classrooms and corporate offices, school officials said.

CLU also received an $85,000 grant from the James Irvine Foundation’s futures project to implement a multimedia communications major. The grant will provide funding for new equipment, testing and development of a computer module, and release time for faculty members to travel to workshops and other institutions with similar majors.
