Longtime GOP Leader Robert F. Beaver Dies

Robert F. Beaver, a political and community leader in Orange County for many years, has died at his home in Fullerton after a lengthy illness. He was 89.

Beaver was a member of the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Foundation; co-founder of the Lincoln Club of Orange County and its treasurer for 28 years; a seven-time California delegate to the Republican National Convention; and a former treasurer of the California Republican Party.

He also had been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Southern California College of Optometry, a trustee of the California State University and Colleges, and a member of Chapman University’s Presidential Council.

Beaver also was a director of the World Affairs Council of Orange County; a board member of the executive board of the North Orange County Boy Scouts of America; and a member of numerous other groups.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, he graduated from UCLA and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as major, inspector general, and at the Pentagon.

He worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for 20 years and was chairman of Willard-Brent Co. Inc., General Contractors for 36 years.

Beaver is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; a daughter, Vicki Beaver Crow; a son, Gary; a brother, Richard; and three grandchildren, Ronald, Jennifer and Robert.

Services will be private. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Eastside Christian Church, 2505 E. Yorba Linda Blvd., Fullerton.
