The past makes for a bright future with the Retro Modernism lamp collection from Stiffel.
The lamps, which have classic 1950s style, add a modern sophistication to contemporary, casual or eclectic interiors.
In reintroducing the lamps, Stiffel recast the designs with the original molds created by Raymond Loewy and Ed Cole, product designers in the ‘50s best known for their avant-garde pieces.
Loewy, known as the father of industrial design, developed his sense of style by drawing inspiration from the art and artifacts of various cultures.
The Retro Modernism collection includes five original designs, including the popular twin-pull desk lamp.
This lamp, which has a minimalist polished brass base, supports an authentic shallow drum shade. It has a two-light cluster and twin pull switches.
Another popular lamp is the torchier, which has a sleek shaft and a spun metal shade, giving it a futuristic look.
The Retro Modernism lamps range from about $200 to $500.

An ideal size for stowing and transporting toys, sporting goods or household supplies, the tote locker has a latch that allows it to be opened from either side, or the lid can be removed for top access.
It has easy-grip handles, can be padlocked and is crush-resistant.
