Impostor at Jet Crash Site Sentenced
A man alleged by authorities to have posed as a military officer at the site of the TWA Flight 800 crash off Long Island was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail for pretending to be a doctor in an unrelated case.
A Suffolk County judge also sentenced 30-year-old David Williams to five years of probation, psychological counseling and forfeiture of his motor vehicle.
New York authorities said they came across Williams posing as a military officer at the site of the July 17 TWA airliner disaster that killed all 230 people on board.
New York Atty. Gen. Dennis Vacco described Williams as a “serial impostor.” Williams pleaded guilty in October to the unauthorized practice of medicine.
