First-term Councilman Anthony Volante has succeeded Bob Turner as mayor of Port Hueneme.
Volante, who was mayor pro tem, was elected to the post Wednesday by his fellow council members. Jon Sharkey is the new mayor pro tem.
Also, Murray Rosenbluth was sworn in as the newest member of the five-member council, succeeding Orvene Carpenter, who stepped down after nearly 30 years of council service.
Carpenter received a framed resolution in honor of his service to the city. A recognition dinner for Carpenter will be held Jan. 31 at Orvene S. Carpenter Community Center, named after him when it was remodeled earlier this decade.
