* Frances Carlisle Case; Silent-Movies Piano Player

Frances Carlisle Case, a former piano player for silent movies, died in a Camarillo convalescent hospital Wednesday. She was 100.

Case was born Nov. 26, 1896, in DeSmet, S.D. She moved to Ventura County from Los Angeles 31 years ago.

Case was a homemaker. She also worked as a salesclerk for Coles Department Store in Brookings, S.D., and as a night auditor for the Mayflower Hotel in Los Angeles.

She was a member and former president of Church Women United, a member of the Home League of the Salvation Army and First Baptist Church in South Dakota and Ventura. For 50 years she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Rapid City, S.D., and charter member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Brookings, S.D.

Case played piano for silent movie theaters for 15 years in Huron, Aberdeen and Brookings, S.D., and for the Salvation Army Sunday services.

Case is survived by daughters Doris Ellis Lindsay of Drakes Branch, Va., and Marion Case Barry of Omaha, Neb.; her sister, Marian Carlisle Baker of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. Capt. Mike Beauchamp of the Salvation Army will officiate. Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
