Muslim Guerrillas Massacre 20 on Bus
Muslim rebels killed 20 passengers on a bus, apparently slitting their throats. The guerrillas forced the bus to stop as it traveled in the Benhamdani area of Blida province just south of the capital, Algiers. Algerian security forces said on the official news agency APS that the 20 were killed “in a cowardly way,” a phrase normally used for attacks in which victims’ throats are cut. Nearly 200 people, mostly civilians, are reported to have been killed since early November in the war between security forces and fundamentalist Muslim rebels seeking to topple the military-backed government.
