King update--After a sluggish start, the Kings played well in their 5-3 loss to Pittsburgh on Tuesday night at the Forum. Brad Smyth scored his third goal in five games since being acquired from Florida in a trade. Rob Blake scored his sixth goal and moved among the top five scoring defensemen. Phillipe Boucher has two assists and a goal, and Eddie Olczyk has a goal and an assist in their last two games. Goalie Stephane Fiset did not play against Pittsburgh after leaving because of dehydration in the third period of the Kings’ 4-2 victory over Colorado on Saturday. Fiset, who has played well in two starts against Calgary, may start tonight. In two games, the Kings have not scored against the Flames.

Flame update--Jonas Hoglund scored a goal with 49 seconds remaining in the third period to lift Calgary to a 5-5 tie with Ottawa on Tuesday night. The tie ended a five-game losing streak. The Flames are 1-8-1 in their last 10 games, their only win being over the Kings. Goalie Dwayne Roloson stopped 22 shots and shut out the Kings, 2-0, at Calgary on Nov. 28. Rookie Jarome Iginla has 10 goals, including seven on the power play, and fellow rookie Hoglund has seven, including four game-winning or game-tying goals. The Flames are 4-10-3 on the road.
