South San Francisco-based Genentech Inc. named Time Warner Inc.’s J. Richard Munro as chairman, replacing co-founder Robert Swanson, who is leaving at the end of the month. . . . Bridgestone/Firestone Inc.’s employees who are members of the United Steelworkers of America voted 3-1 to approve a new contract with the tire maker, ending the longest labor dispute in the industry’s history. . . . Teamsters President Ron Carey’s lead dipped slightly as the first ballots from challenger James P. Hoffa’s strongholds were counted. Carey had 155,078 votes to Hoffa’s 142,379 in balloting for union president.
