At Least No One Is Complaining About the Noise

The Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse, N.Y., has been declared off-limits for tailgate parties.

The cemetery is near the Carrier Dome and parking has been allowed there for 20 years. This year, several hundred fans paid $200 for permits to park for football, basketball and lacrosse games.

But many families with loved ones in the cemetery complained about garbage and empty beer cans left behind.

One more year: Tiger Woods isn’t even old enough to buy a drink, but he’s the newest partner in the All-Star Cafe cast. Woods, 20, joined Andre Agassi, Wayne Gretzky, Ken Griffey Jr., Joe Montana, Shaquille O’Neal and Monica Seles in the restaurant chain, which opened its Las Vegas branch last Saturday night.

Woods donated the clothing he wore at the Greater Milwaukee Open, his first tournament, and at the Las Vegas Invitational, where he won his first professional title.

New era? Trish Roberts is a coach in the new American Basketball League, but she knows what it’s like to promote women’s basketball. Nearly 20 years ago, the Atlanta Glory coach was a player.

“My last year in St. Louis we got 200 fans on a good night,” Roberts said. “It cost more to turn on the lights than we got in gate receipts.”
