Magazine Ranks Hospital Among Best

Share

Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center has been named one of the top 100 hospitals in the country by Modern Healthcare magazine.

The 413-bed medical center is the only health-care facility in Orange County to earn the distinction. The facility was selected for its low mortality rate, quality of care, fiscal performance and management, said Al Arizmendez, a hospital spokesman.

Modern Healthcare did not rank the 100 facilities in order. The research was performed by HCIA, a Baltimore health-care company, and the William M. Mercer Health Care Provider Consulting Practice in New York.

The study, in its fourth year, collected data on 3,575 hospitals that admit Medicare patients. Eight areas of clinical, operational and financial performance were examined. The findings were published in the magazine’s Nov. 25 issue.

Other Southern California hospitals named to list include Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, Community Hospital of Huntington Park, Pomona Valley Medical Center and Queen of Angels Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.

This is the first time that the Fountain Valley center, at 17100 Euclid St., has made the list.
