Police arrested two Simi Valley teenage boys on weapons and other charges Thursday during an early morning gang sweep.

It was the 10th sweep of the year aimed at eliminating gang violence in Simi Valley.

Simi Valley police and Ventura County probation officers served arrest warrants at five locations, searching for probation violators and people who had been involved in gang activity, said Simi Valley Police Chief Randy Adams.

One of those arrested was a 15-year-old who authorities said was an active gang member. He was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant in connection with vandalism and possession of an illegal weapon, Adams said.

The other boy, 16, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, in connection with a recent gang fight in Simi Valley, according to Adams.
