Who Are These ‘Sources’?

Regarding Judy Brennan’s story on “Devil’s Advocate” (Calendar, Nov. 27):

Prior to the article being published, Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves had only worked together on the movie for four days. It appeared to me and other crew members that Pacino liked Reeves immensely and was not “driven nuts” by anything. Inasmuch as I’ve worked with Pacino before, I know that if he’s unhappy with something, like the Bronx street guy that he is, he will let you know--pronto.

I question the use of “blind sources.” Why can’t these people give their names? Are they gutless?

Every movie has its unique problems--every movie--and the person most people turn to to solve them is the director. It’s routine. Taylor Hackford’s reputation as a fine director precedes him. And he’s solving the problems on this movie without any of the high drama that was reported.
