CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES: Many churches will celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Christ with special services Tuesday, Christmas Eve. Here’s a sampling of the local events:

* St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church will offer vesperal prayers and the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil at 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve. At 10:30 p.m., the midnight Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom will begin with morning prayers and Orthodox Christmas chanting. The church is at 6643 Vanowen St., Van Nuys. (818) 994-2313.

* Christmas Eve at First Presbyterian Church of Granada Hills will be marked by three services: a 5 p.m. celebration designed for primary and preschool-age children, a 7 p.m. service for all ages and an 11 p.m. celebration featuring the Youth and Cathedral Choir. * Children are welcome to join in a live nativity scene from 5 to 8 p.m. Christmas Eve at First Christian Church of North Hollywood, 4390 Colfax Ave. A family Christmas service will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the 54th annual Christmas Candlelight Service at 11 p.m. (818) 763-8218.

* Shepherd of the Hills/Hillcrest Church will hold Christmas Eve services at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. at 19700 Rinaldi St., Porter Ranch. (818) 831-9333.

* A family service will start at 7:30 p.m. Christmas Eve, with a candlelight service at 11 p.m. at Woodland Hills United Methodist Church, 5650 Shoup Ave. (818) 346-6528.

LESSONS AND CAROLS: St. Cyril’s Choir and soloists, under the direction of William Beck, will present a candlelight service of lessons and carols at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 15520 Ventura Blvd., Encino. Admission is free. (818) 986-8234.

CONCERT: An Advent-Christmas concert featuring the Chancel Choir of Central Lutheran Church, under the direction of Jane Blomquist, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at 6425 Tyrone Ave., Van Nuys. The concert theme, “Love, Love, Love--That’s What It’s All About,” brings the Christmas message with anthems, carols and the spoken word. Admission is free. (818) 785-5414.

TALK ON VALUES: Rabbi Mark Bleiweiss, associate editor of Jewish Spectator magazine, will lecture on “When American Values and Jewish Values Collide” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Kol Tikvah, 20400 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills. Admission is free. (818) 348-0670.
