Family of Student Killed in Hazing Gets $2.25-Million Settlement
The family of a college student killed in a fraternity hazing reached a $2.25-million settlement last week with the fraternity and its members.
Michael Davis, 25, died after he was punched and kicked repeatedly by fraternity members at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.
Davis’ parents, Edith and Boyd Davis, filed the wrongful death suit against Kappa Alpha Psi, its executive secretary and five members.
Sixteen members of the fraternity were charged with the hazing; seven of them also were charged with involuntary manslaughter, and two were given jail sentences. The fraternity was also banned from the university.
