Even this early in the season, after Saturday’s double-digit loss to Illinois, and with a winless record in their only three meaningful nonconference games, the Bruins have to win this game to keep their NCAA tournament chances burning bright. A loss tonight at the Kiel Center against a methodical Billiken team that specializes in ball control, and UCLA is looking at an uphill fight to make it to March madness. Saturday, St. Louis (which is 0-5 against UCLA) won its fourth in five games, beating Eastern Illinois, 81-59, behind 24 points by Troy Robertson (the little brother of Kansas’ Ryan Robertson). “We’ve got to win every game from now on--no game is real big or real small, everything is the same,” Bruin center Jelani McCoy said.
