CHP Seeking Help on Crash Inquiry
The California Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in identifying vehicles involved in a crash on Telegraph Road earlier this week that claimed the life of a 60-year-old Santa Paula man.
About 5 p.m. Monday, a car driven by 60-year-old Marco Rico careened off the roadway near Olive Road and crashed into Ellsworth Barranca. Rico died from his injuries.
Authorities are searching for the driver of an early 1970s American car, either orange or dark rust in color, with damage to the rear, according to CHP spokesman Dave Cockrill. The CHP also would like to talk with the driver of a mid-1960s dark green or dark blue Ford Mustang, Cockrill said.
Information came from a woman who CHP officers had initially believed to have been involved in the accident, Cockrill said. The unidentified woman, who came to CHP headquarters in Ventura on Friday morning after reading about the accident in the newspaper, turned out to be a witness and not an involved party, Cockrill said.
