Though most moviegoers are familiar with Warren Beatty’s award-winning 1978 remake, “Heaven Can Wait,” the 1941 original is an absolute delight. A perfectly cast Robert Montgomery (father of Elizabeth) stars in this fantasy as a sweet, but none-so-bright prizefighter who accidentally is sent to heaven before his time and is forced to occupy a new body on Earth. Evelyn Keyes (right), Claude Rains, Rita Johnson (left), Edward Everett Horton and James Gleason also star in this classic directed by Alexander Hall. Harry Segall won the award for his original story and Seton I. Miller and Sidney Buchman took home the Academy Award for their screenplay (Disney, Sunday at 10 p.m.).
