Crash on Santiago Canyon Road Kills 1
A 34-year-old man was killed and two other people were seriously injured Thursday in a head-on collision on Santiago Canyon Road that shut down traffic for almost four hours, authorities said.
The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. when one car traveling on the wrong side of the road struck another vehicle heading the opposite way near Modjeska Canyon Road, west of the Cleveland National Forest, California Highway Patrol Officer Keith Bauer said.
One man was flown to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he died several hours later. The CHP, which is investigating the accident, did not release the name of the man pending family notification.
Two other people in the cars suffered serious injuries and were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.
