Parents across the Conejo Valley can learn how to improve their child-rearing skills at the fifth annual Celebrate the Family conference Feb. 1 at Cal Lutheran University.
The conference, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include seminars and workshops on helping children develop values, step-parenting, dealing with anger and coping with adolescence.
Licensed marriage, family and child counselor Dr. Priscilla Partridge de Garcia will be the keynote speaker.
Garcia, a clinical psychologist practicing in Westlake Village and Camarillo, will discuss how parents serve as their children’s role models, and why kids benefit when their mothers and fathers take care of themselves.
Admission to the conference, presented by the Conejo Substance Abuse Prevention Authority and sponsored by Amgen Inc., Hewlett Packard and Cal Lutheran, is $25 per person, or $35 per couple if registered by Friday.
Registration on the day of the conference is $30 per person or $40 per couple at Cal Lutheran’s gymnasium, 60 W. Olsen Road.
Free care for children ages 2 to 12 is available for parents attending the conference.
To obtain a conference registration form, or for more information, call Karen Josephson at the Conejo Recreation and Park District’s main office at (805) 495-6471.
