Jeanne Bartlett, 94, screenwriter who worked on early “Lassie” films. As an MGM contract writer, Bartlett suggested a dog story, which evolved into “The Son of Lassie.” The 1945 film starred Peter Lawford as a pilot who worked with the famous collie trained as a war dog. Bartlett wrote for the studio for 15 years and then retired to her Malibu home, where she became a community leader and preservationist.
