Joyce Ann Martin; Retired Teaching Assistant

Joyce Ann Martin, a retired instructional assistant, died Thursday at her home in Camarillo. She was 59.

Martin was born June 5, 1937, in Bakersfield and was a Ventura County resident for 53 years.

She was a retired special education instructional assistant for the Pleasant Valley School District. In addition to her fondness for children, Martin enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Martin is survived by her husband of 36 years, John Martin; a daughter, Joanne of Rancho Park; a son, Jeffrey of Summerland; two sisters, Barbara Smith of Diamond Bar and Mary Hansen of Lompoc; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pierce Brothers Griffin Chapel in Camarillo. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura.

Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3160 Geneva St., Los Angeles 90020.
