In Sync With ATMs

TIMES STAFF WRITER

Sync Research in Irvine last week announced a potentially lucrative deal in which thousands of its devices will be used in a major upgrade of Bank of America’s automated teller machine network.

Sync makes devices that cut telecommunications costs by letting stodgy but secure mainframe computer networks behave more like modern computer networks. Sync’s products are used and sold by IBM, which signed the deal with Bank of America. More than 3,000 Sync devices will be used in the project.
