A 39-year-old Oxnard man was listed in critical condition Monday, shot twice the night before in a confrontation with several alleged gang members who were arguing with the man’s friend, authorities said.

At the time of the attack, Fidencio Silva was standing next to the friend, who had a long-standing dispute with the alleged gang members, Oxnard police said.

The two men were fired upon about 8 p.m. Sunday at 320 Cuesta Del Mar Drive in south Oxnard, a police spokesman said.
