A 23-year-old Santa Paula man is scheduled to be arraigned today on drug and spousal abuse charges after a domestic abuse investigation uncovered evidence of more than 820 grams of methamphetamine scattered around an apartment, authorities said.

Miguel Aguilar faces charges of possessing more than $82,000 worth of methamphetamine for sale and imprisoning his girlfriend in her Santa Paula apartment for four days.

The police investigation began Monday when a hysterical and crying woman ran into the Santa Paula Police Department’s front lobby. The unidentified woman told police her boyfriend had been holding her captive and beating her in her apartment on the 200 block of South 10th Street for the past four days.

A police search of the residence turned up not only Aguilar, but suspected methamphetamine stashed in plastic bags in the bedroom, police said. A substance suspected of being the powdered drug was also scattered on a window sill and over the floors of the bedroom, hallway and kitchen, police said.

Aguilar was booked into Ventura County Jail. His arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. in Ventura Municipal Court.
