Willis W. Harman; Former UC Regent, Author, Social Scientist

Willis W. Harman, 78, former UC regent, author and social scientist. Harman had recently served as president of the Institute of Noetic Sciences in Sausalito, an organization that fosters research and education about the mind. A former Stanford professor of engineering, Harman wrote several books, including “Global Mind Change” and “An Incomplete Guide to the Future.” He was named to the UC Board of Regents by Gov. Edmund G. “Jerry” Brown Jr. in 1970 and served for 10 years. For 16 years before joining the Sausalito group, Harman was a senior social scientist at Stanford Research Institute International in Menlo Park. On Thursday in Stanford of brain cancer.
