John W. Luke, 72, former research expert for IBM and Computer Sciences Corp. A native of Astoria, N.Y., Luke earned degrees at the University of Utah, Stanford and USC. He spent the first 18 years of his career with IBM, rising to director of the company’s Palo Alto Scientific Center. Luke joined Computer Sciences Corp. in 1968 and became president of its Data Services Group.
