My Favorite Weekend
Early Friday evening: See anything loud and action-oriented at Mann’s Chinese, my favorite commercial theater.
Saturday mornings: Work out with my girlfriend in the gym at my home in Coldwater Canyon, followed by a dip in the pool.
Breakfast: Kokomo Cafe in Farmer’s Market for the turkey hash, chicken sausage and big slices of French toast.
Saturday afternoon: My dogs dominate the weekend, so I let them chase the ducks at a lake off Coldwater, and later hit Animal Crackers, a service-oriented pet store on Beverly Boulevard.
Indulgence: Fried chicken and waffles at the Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n’ Waffles on Pico Boulevard.
Relaxing: Read scripts on the sofa, while listening to mellow jazz (Nancy Wilson, Gerald Albright, Miles Davis).
Sunday morning: Crenshaw Church of Christ followed by soul food at the Boulevard Cafe, both on Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Sunday evening: Date night. If we don’t cook, it’s a night for fine dining. Favorites are Chaya Brasserie, Locanda Veneta or Cafe La Boheme.
After dinner: Watch “The X-Files.”
